ENQA (the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education) disseminates information, experiences and good practices in the field of quality assurance in higher education to different interest groups, such as European quality assurance agencies, state authorities and higher education institutions.

In 2005, ENQA approved the “Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the EHEA” (ESG) as a consequence of the previous request made by Ministers of Education at the Berlin conference in 2003. The new ESG were adopted in May 2015.

Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area

The European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) has appointed Unibasq – Agency for the Quality of the Basque University System – as a full member.

This incorporation has important implications. In the first place it gives Unibasq sufficient powers to verify and modify any new degrees introduced to the Basque University System. This will lead to better attention to the specificities of our universities. It will also allow the Agency to participate on equal footing with other European agencies that comply with the established criteria and guidelines in developing new standards with the quality assurance of university education in Europe.
